As I always mention, Singapore is a very causal country.  But sometimes their causalness was not something everyone can tolerate.

During my off days and the weekend, I would go to the nearby shopping centre for grocery shopping and window shopping.

That Shopping Centre  is a very big one at the East Coast, many families will go during the weekends to spend a whole day there. Literally you can find everything except a cinema.

2 Sundays ago (the one before I dated Mr Sun), I went to the shopping centre, found a seat and rested after strolling around, a 40+ man with slippers walked towards my bench.  He sat down followed by his wife and his son.

Soon after this man sat down, he took off his slipper and crossed his right foot resting on the left knee...and started to stroke his foot  for a few minutes while enjoying his ice-cream with his family.

The family was at ease, other patrons were at ease, only me, an alien who was shocked.

PicturePicturePicture

Maybe it's too homely, patrons do make themselves at home......

Local SG always do that. Can see ladies (all levels) loosen their slippers/sandals/shoes in trains / public places.. sth similar to mainlander, rite ?

Yes, I found there were a lot of such in SG while I was there few years ago.  My friend a local SG told me I was over tidy in dress at there even I was in my personal vacation casual.

Guess it's cultural difference. Another possibility is that SG is probably cleaner than HK. That's why people are doing it so casually.

Yes, they are really casual.. that's y I still think HK ppl r more stylish than SG in general.

More of a culture thing . In HK, no matter where u r, u won't do that unless u don't mind being mistaken as mainlanders / ppl with lower (no) education..... not being racist.

This kind of culture shock always happened in Asia while the foreigners are there. They will be very shocked and ask WHY the peoples do like this??? But - if you live there for long, you see them and act as the same as them, then you don't feel anything then!!!

Don't be shocked!!! more to come!!! hahaha
